Why I Choose to Build a Beautiful Love Life with Myself?

Happy New Year! Halfway through the month.

Let me reintroduce myself. My name is Keianna Johnson. I am a woman who wears many hats in many colors. My husband and our children are the veins that lead the blood to my heart. I am a family; first, family always kind of person. My real friendships keep me grounded and vice versa — a fair exchange. I got loyalty inside my DNA ~in my Kendric Lamar voice. I enjoy my career as an award-winning children’s textured hairstylist and author of the book, Coming of Age: The Easy Guide to Healthy Hair Care for Teens. None of the above wouldn’t be possible without The Messiah from where all my blessings flow. I live well because I keep the four components of my life simplified: God, Family, Friends, and Career.

Being Neutral?

Okay, let’s have an honest conversation. Many of us choose to remain neutral because it is much easier not to ruffle someone else feathers with our point of view. We sometimes believe that being silent will make an issue go away. However, being quiet does the complete opposite. Being silent often communicates that we do not have an opinion and that we are cool with what is happening to us and or around us. The issue never goes away when we are on the fence about sharing how we truly feel. Sometimes showing no active emotional involvement will allow a problem to keep growing until we put a stop to it by speaking up and sharing our thoughts.

How To Create A Meaningful Vision Board.

Power your year the whole year through.

Happy New Year!

Exciting times are upon us. Entering a new year brings forth inspiration, motivation, and self-empowerment. Here is our chance to leave the past behind and embrace a fresh start. It’s what we do in the new year right? We make plans to set goals to establish new beginnings through our resolutions. Which is often the charge we need to reset our battery packs as we hope to evolve in the next year ahead. Some people write out their goals for the year. Then there are others like myself who choose to create a vision board as a symbol of a lifestyle makeover.

Oh What A Year: 2018 Year End Recap.

46766812_2015789265379690_8966756747465195520_nThe year 2018 was an adventure. The launch and release of my book Coming Of Age: The Easy Guide to Healthy Hair Care for Teens was indeed a life-changing experience. Every time I hold my book in my hand, I remember the entire writing process from start to finish. Thoughts that began in my head manifested outwardly in the physical on January 6, 2018. Amazon total sales were 216 copies, and 180 books sold live between the following events such as my book signing on February 25, Healthy Hair & Style Workshops for Teens, Shorty & Duwop Kids Hair Symposium on September 2, and The Back to Fun Book Fair on November 24. Not to mention some of the random book sales that happened in my children’s hair studio. How can I not enjoy working for myself? I’ve never felt this empowered in all my life. I know without a doubt that I can do anything I set my mind to do. Continue reading

Your Destiny Lives Inside Your Hearts Desire.

When Your Plans Fail Yet The Outcome Remains The Same.

In the year 2010, I enrolled in The Writer’s Institute Of Children’s Literature. The online writing course filled my heart with so much joy. I learned so much about children’s literature. Completing my assignments was a breeze. I felt like I was beginning to move in the right direction because I’ve always wanted to become a writer. But after seven months, all that comes to a screeching halt! My dream was placed on the back burner because I could no longer afford the writing classes. I had to do what was necessary to stabilize my circumstances financially. I can remember during that time, my future seemed so far away. My conditions seem so much bigger than my goals, I really couldn’t see past my circumstances. So for an extended period of time, I felt stuck. And in feeling stuck, I became extremely depressed. All Great Achievements Require Time

Do the best you can with what you have.

In November 2014, God blessed my husband and me to become first-time homeowners. It was a dream we shared together for many years. I can remember laying in bed with my husband during pillow talk two-years prior, discussing what our life would be like if we ever owned a home. We imagined raising our children in a family oriented location with a fantastic school system while also giving them a childhood home filled with beautiful memories. It was nice sharing the possibilities of building a better life for our family. And so the process of finding a home began. Continue reading

Charity By Design: ALEX AND ANI

My First Purchase

On Sunday, April 8, 2018, my dear friend Nykisha and I visited the National Harbor for me to photograph head shots of her for her upcoming project. After our photo shoot, we walked the Harbor looking for a cool place to eat. On our way to the restaurant, we trolled into ALEX AND ANI which is one of Nykisha’s favorite places to shop.
