Taking Back My Power To Appreciate Life.

Recovering from Depression.

The blog post entitled; Depression: I Can’t Fake The Funk, was a glimpse into what was happening inside my world that triggered a brief battle with depression. Today I am grateful to be free enough to share my thoughts and be more transparent about what was happening. After having a successful surgery in May of 2020, my beautiful mother was diagnosed with cancer. A devastating blow is seriously an understatement; my heart broke into tiny pieces. The thought of losing my mom became an emotional warzone. I felt I did not have the supplies to defeat the unsettling sadness in my soul. Grief covered me and completely took over my entire being on every level, so much so I felt like I couldn’t function mentally.

The Power To Evolve Is In Your Hands.

Take Back YOUR Power To Be Yourself.

Have you ever observed your emotions when you find out your character’s picture painted is not true? What do you say when your name is under attack? How does it feel when someone is perpetuating a lie about who you are to their friends and family? Sit and feel those emotions because how you are feeling is real. Anger is a natural emotion every human being has built inside the fabric of our humanity. Do not suppress your feelings. It is healthy to acknowledge the fact that the actions against you have made you upset.

Why I Choose to Build a Beautiful Love Life with Myself?

Happy New Year! Halfway through the month.

Let me reintroduce myself. My name is Keianna Johnson. I am a woman who wears many hats in many colors. My husband and our children are the veins that lead the blood to my heart. I am a family; first, family always kind of person. My real friendships keep me grounded and vice versa — a fair exchange. I got loyalty inside my DNA ~in my Kendric Lamar voice. I enjoy my career as an award-winning children’s textured hairstylist and author of the book, Coming of Age: The Easy Guide to Healthy Hair Care for Teens. None of the above wouldn’t be possible without The Messiah from where all my blessings flow. I live well because I keep the four components of my life simplified: God, Family, Friends, and Career.

Being Neutral?

Okay, let’s have an honest conversation. Many of us choose to remain neutral because it is much easier not to ruffle someone else feathers with our point of view. We sometimes believe that being silent will make an issue go away. However, being quiet does the complete opposite. Being silent often communicates that we do not have an opinion and that we are cool with what is happening to us and or around us. The issue never goes away when we are on the fence about sharing how we truly feel. Sometimes showing no active emotional involvement will allow a problem to keep growing until we put a stop to it by speaking up and sharing our thoughts.

Oh What A Year: 2018 Year End Recap.

46766812_2015789265379690_8966756747465195520_nThe year 2018 was an adventure. The launch and release of my book Coming Of Age: The Easy Guide to Healthy Hair Care for Teens was indeed a life-changing experience. Every time I hold my book in my hand, I remember the entire writing process from start to finish. Thoughts that began in my head manifested outwardly in the physical on January 6, 2018. Amazon total sales were 216 copies, and 180 books sold live between the following events such as my book signing on February 25, Healthy Hair & Style Workshops for Teens, Shorty & Duwop Kids Hair Symposium on September 2, and The Back to Fun Book Fair on November 24. Not to mention some of the random book sales that happened in my children’s hair studio. How can I not enjoy working for myself? I’ve never felt this empowered in all my life. I know without a doubt that I can do anything I set my mind to do. Continue reading

All Great Achievements Require Time

Do the best you can with what you have.

In November 2014, God blessed my husband and me to become first-time homeowners. It was a dream we shared together for many years. I can remember laying in bed with my husband during pillow talk two-years prior, discussing what our life would be like if we ever owned a home. We imagined raising our children in a family oriented location with a fantastic school system while also giving them a childhood home filled with beautiful memories. It was nice sharing the possibilities of building a better life for our family. And so the process of finding a home began. Continue reading
