Genuinely Being Happy For Other People & Enjoying The Good Times.
Omg! The month of May has been filled with last minute deadlines (I will share with you later) and FULL of incredible blessings for those closest to me. To partake in the celebration of someone else’s happiness means they love me enough to include me in what matter to them most. I am thankful to be able to support my family and friends the same way they have supported me. With so much sadness happening in the world, it is a joy to experience pure happiness with family and friends. The good times are life long memories that will be cherished forever. This post is dedicated to those responsible for making me smile this month.
Let me start by congratulating my cousins Kev & CeeCee on their beautiful vintage chic style wedding. The ceremony took place on Weatherly Farm overlooking the fabulous waterfront. It felt like we were attending a destination wedding without traveling very far. The energy surrounded the day was filled with love, smiling faces and genuine happiness for the newlyweds. The excitement on their two young daughter’s faces was priceless. It was a blessing to witness their happily ever after.
Mother’s Day was another beautiful moment to smile about. I bonded with friends over delicious food during Mother’s Day Brunch. The laughter, the games we played, while drinking unlimited mimosa was just what I needed to kick-start my celebration of being a mom of five. Thank you Latrice for giving me the opportunity to share my day with you and your family. Also, thank you for the beautiful gifts you graced us with from your heart.
Mother’s day ended with me eating a nice meal cooked by my husband, the man who never cooks. He cooked Lamb, wild rice, fresh chopped salad and Naan Bread. Hubby and our children blessed me with cards filled with kind words, good wishes, and appreciation of my contribution to their lives. I appreciated them for being thoughtful and honoring me. It isn’t easy being a mom all the time. I am thankful for the real love we have for one another.
During my hectic hairstyling schedule, I managed to gain three new clients this month. I thank God for bringing financial blessings my way. Economic growth is something to smile about.
Then there was brunch with Nykisha and Zaye; my friends turned adoptive family. We had a beautiful buffet style brunch overlooking the fabulous waterfront. Omg, the waffles were so yummy they melted in my mouth. The laughter, the conversation, and the support (real support I might add) were refreshing. When I am around them, I don’t have to be “The Award-Winning Stylist,” I can be myself, and they can be themselves. I am thankful to have been able to break bread with my friends.
Then there was a lovely lunch date with my Aunt & Cousin. My Aunt was so happy, and I felt her happiness for her daughter. I am thankful to have been invited out for lunch and been included at that moment that day.
Oh and shoutout to my sister Stephanie and brother-in-law Dev. They are expecting their first child in July. I can’t wait to meet my baby nephew. The Baby Shower was host at my house in April. Another superb time spent with family and friends.
I am thankful for being a witness to joy in the lives of the people around me. I am thankful for my sister Trina and our most recent pep-talk about life. I am learning to live in the moment. I am learning, day by day, to embrace the happy times. I am learning to surround myself with situations and people who bring out the best in life. If May was this lovely, I can’t wait to see what June has in store. I wonder what goodness my eyes will witness?
If I had to close this blog post with a message for you, I would encourage you to live in the moment. Always show up for those who have been there for you. Be happy for the favor of God and truly be happy for the goodness he has given those around you. Smile! There is always a reason to smile. Simply look around you.
