Many times, people make the mistake of putting all of their energy into loving and caring for others. Some suffer from “martyr syndrome” and neglect themselves by always putting others first. It’s critical to know that before you can be the best for others, you need to take care of yourself.

Here are five ways to practice self-love daily:

  1. Get spiritual – If you have a religion or some form of spirituality, devoting time to this every day is paramount in taking care of yourself. It can help you reduce stress, clear your mind, and find answers to things that might be stressing you.
  2. Eat right – The food you put into your body is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. Your food is your fuel, and if you’re putting good things in, you can expect good things to come out. Take time to eat right. Treat your body like the loving vessel it is.

It’s important to avoid using the journal for strictly venting or hyper-focusing on the negatives in your life, or it will only get you down.
  5. Stop comparing – It’s so easy to get caught up in comparisons but comparing you to others is unfair. Everyone has bad days, and we’re all on different paths in life. Don’t compare yourself to what others look like, what they have, or what they do. Celebrate your own unique, wonderful self.
